The Phoenix Branch Pedestal is a striking mixed-media work, blending salvaged nature with refined artistry. Standing 48 inches tall and 12 inches in diameter, its cylindrical form is finished in a smooth matte white, a clean backdrop for the sculptural branches that emerge organically from its surface. These branch segments, warm in tone and polished to reveal their natural grain, seem to grow through the column, breaking its perfect geometry with living texture.
Each wooden element carries a powerful history — salvaged from the aftermath of the Okanagan fires. Their charred surfaces, once fragile and at risk of decay, have been carefully preserved using bond and glazing putty, sealing in the evidence of fire while allowing the beauty of the burn patterns to remain visible. This process transforms remnants of destruction into enduring symbols of resilience.
